The CMSA, Greater Grand Rapids Kalamazoo Chapter Expectation Survey, 2002 Results

 

This survey was taken by attendees at the September 2002, General Membership meeting.  The survey was divided into five parts: Meetings, Projects/Committee Interest, Education, Newsletter, and Expectations.  I will report about a different section in following issues of the newsletter.  There were thirty responses to the Meetings section- 20 members and 10 non-members.

 

1. MEETINGS

Do you attend the monthly chapter meetings on a regular basis? 

Answers:  Thirteen indicated yes; one respondent checked 2 to 3 per year; one responded, I try, and one, As much as possible. Live in Lansing area.  there were two no responses.  One explained, First meeting, plan to attend on regular basis.

 

If no, what makes it difficult for you to attend?

Answers: Family commitments; not sure of location; other commitments (3); schedule demands; college classes; not enough hours in my day; not a member.

 

What is your opinion of the monthly meetings?  How could the meetings be more interesting for you?

Answers:  Seem to have very good speakers, vendors, etc. to stimulate interest.  The meetings are very professional.  Perhaps a mixer to get to know members.  The speakers make the difference. Most of them are good.  Positive, keep up the interesting topics.  The meeting topics have been excellent.  I cant think of anything to improve the meetings.  Enjoy the special programs offered.  Meetings are interesting; I enjoy them.  Well-organized presentations are thought out, informative.  They are very informative.  I think they are good.  There were four goods and one very good.  Dinner is always a plus.  So far, so good. Topics are interesting.  Enjoyable.  Appreciate CEUs for CCM. 

 

The following suggestions were made for improvements: current topics R/T CM in rehab areas; long term acute care; working with PPS.

 

Would you consider being a greeter at one of the meetings?

 

Answers:  four- no, five- yes. (I live too far away.  Too hard to guarantee getting here on time possibly.  Doubtful.  Not while in college.  Possibly.

 

Do you have topics you would like a speaker to discuss?  Can you recommend any speakers?

 

Answers:  Four- no.  Case Managing in a medical office and clinic setting.  MS/especially with emphasis on the new Interferon.  Psychology chronic pain management.  More on standard CCM care models.  Indicating outcomes.  Adherence strategies.  Dealing with difficult people.  Weight loss surgery in its long-term impact on chronic disease management.  Orthotics-what, how, who how much, etc.  New to case management-any and all topics.  Transplants.  OBRA-HHS has a whole program on this.  Employment info for acute care CM as well as LTC SWs and CMs.
