1995 Standards of Practice for Case Management Revised!
It was a pleasure and a privilege to represent West MIchiganon the CMSA Standards of Practice Update Task Force Reference Group. The process was thorough and exacting. Evidence to support any recommended change was required.
Shape your professional future, provide your critique! Were the best critical questions posed to force careful, yet broad consideration?
YOU DECIDE!
üDo the revisions reflect the changing practice of case management in your healthcare environment?
üAre core processes central to case management practice reflected?
üDoes the revised Case Management Model clearly reflect key elements in the case management process?
üShould the broad approach to major case management functions be maintained from 1995?
üAre assessment elements described in sufficient detail?
üShould case selection issues be discussed further?
üDo you agree to the deletion of specific requirements for education and training to avoid overlap with functions of certifying bodies and specific disciplines?
üAre patients/clients in a position to select case managers; case managers to select patients, and is that critical to practice?
üShould the focus be on the use of evidence-based research rather than conducting research?
üIs there sufficient discussion of case management ethics and the legal issues to reflect increasing requirements for confidentiality, and compliance with federal, state, and local laws?
You decide, provide feedback, and impact your future. Become an active participant.
